Furaha

Furaha is swahili and means joy. Our aim is to offer a homelike place for the underprivileged girls in Jinja, Uganda. With our support these girls have a safe place to live in, healthy food and a chance to go to school. Furaha home can accommodate about 10 children at a time. Our association has neither political nor religious affiliations.Expenses are covered by membership and sponsor fees and donations. All work in Finland is done by volunteers. Our staff working in Uganda receive a small monthly compensation.In order to get income, we also organize different kinds of events for both adults and children.

Become a member

Our annual membership fee is 12 or 20 euros. You can become a member by sending your address and email address to furahahome@gmail.com.

Become a sponsor

You can also help by becoming a sponsor for one of our girls: Scovia, Jovita, Aisha, Shifa, Kwagala or Shama. You can choose the amount of monthly fee between 5 and 30 euros.

Are you interested in volunteer work?

We need constantly helping hands in Finland and in Uganda. In Finland for example bakers, chefs, gymnastics and yoga instructors, graphic designers and photographers have done volunteer work for Furaha. There is also a plenty of work in Uganda. You can either clean, take care of the children, do paperwork or help in the garden, according to your own skills and interests.
